Gallente ships are divided into two basic types, hybrid gun boats (like the catalyst or megathron) and drone boats (like the vexor or dominix). I'm going to leave out T2 ships from this progression as T2 ships usually exist beside other ships rather than simply as a bigger/better version (though not always, and T2 is usually quite good)
HYBRID PROGRESSION Incursus -> Catalyst -> Thorax -> Brutix -> Megathron
DRONE PROGRESSION Tristan -> Vexor -> Myrmidon -> Dominix
Depending on your goals I would advocate away from flying gallente, as overall they are a poor choice in nearly every regard. They'll get the job done, but everyone else will do it faster and better. If you want to do missions or PVE content Minmatar/Caldari are better, and if you want to do hardcore PVP Minmatar/Amarr are better. If you just want to fly Gallente for the sake of good luck though!

I didn't know that the Abaddon was a Minmatar ship.
Well if you want to compare EFT numbers in a hypothetical environment they might not always be the best, or for very specific tasks they might not be the best, but overall?
Are you saying that if you had to start over you'd really train anything but Minmatar? Other races have a couple good ships, Minmatar has almost only good ships. In every class of ship in the game Minmatar is either the best or it's debatable. No other race even comes close to that kind of dominance along the entire chain from frigate to battleship.

Are you serious? For PVP the only best-in-class ships that Gallente have are frigates...

Both of these fits are what I would describe as "standard" and the Rupture will do about 15% less DPS than the Thorax assuming both have gank ammo fitted and also about 20% less tank. But /w Barrage fitted the Rupture is 25% faster and can apply damage to the edge of point range and will easily solo the Thorax.
Also, if anything happens to the drones the Thorax's damage advantage evaporates, but the ruptures speed does not and agility and damage does not.
I'd rather fly the Rupture, but I can see where some might prefer the Thorax. Calling it the "best" is incorrect however and this is what I meant when I said that any Minmatar ship that isn't the best flat out is in a position to be debated.
